As we inch closer and closer to the opening of MLS’s summer transfer window on July 15, the rumors keep flying in. The newest notable transfer rumor says that former Chivas de Guadalajara and Mexican national team midfielder Ramon Morales is in negotiations with a team in Major League Soccer., a popular Mexican soccer news website, reports that Morales, who had 64 appearances with Mexico between 2001 and 2007, is in talks to move to MLS after recently being informed that he is surplus to requirements at current club Estudiantes Tecos.

Morales is a legend at former club Chivas, where he made 373 league appearances and scored 60 goals between 1999 and 2010. He was captain of the club from 2007 until his move to Estudiantes Tecos. He is most comfortable as a left-sided attacking midfielder or winger, but is also able to play as a left back. Several teams in MLS are in need of players at either of those positions, but Morales is currently 35 years old and his age could be a turn-off for several teams.

He was a regular for most of last season at Tecos, but as the club brought in new players during both the winter and the current summer transfer windows, his place in the lineup disappeared. He made 28 appearances for the club since signing last year.

While the article does not mention a specific team, it clearly states that Morales is in negotiations with a team in MLS. Morales may consider retirement should the MLS negotiations fall through.
